  • “Others may choose not to be in your life because of your parenting choices. The level of freedom and happiness that you are living may threaten their very existence. In their eyes, if they embraced your way of life, they’d be betraying themselves and everything they thought to be truth.”—Dayna Martin author of Radical Unschooling

  • It’s kinda scary how true that is!  I’m pretty sure some of the family issues we’ve had are b/c of that very thing…

  • honestly I think that’s true no matter where you stand. some people will choose not to be in your life because of choices you make… regardless of what they are. For many people – difference is a cause for alarm. They are uncomfortable with ideas outside they’re own ideals. It’s good to realize you can’t please everyone and you must make choices for your family that you think are right regardless of what others do. If you live secure in you’re own life, most people will eventually feel secure about it too – even if it’s different from yours. but some… some will always be uncomfortable. it’s life.

  • hi! wow I like how you think! you sound like a great mom! I heard about unschooling on descovery health, it sounds really cool, I wish I could be a SAHM and be able to do something similar! well, take care!

  • @JourneyOf7 - We are having the same issues and now it has bled into the co-op the girls use. Oh well!

@HennyPenne - I agree. The one thing that I have discovered through some recent persectuion, for lack of a better word, was that I am extremely confident in the choices that we have made for our family. It hasn’t always been that way though. I have had other times where people have questioned me and I wound up questioning myself. I wish I had had a quote like this at those times. :)

  • @Margaret_aka_mommy - Thanks for stopping by and for the kind words. :) I just wanted to encourage you that if you wanted to stay at home it’s not impossible. It might not be something you can do now but you may be able to work towards that for the future. I worked outside the home when my oldest was born, going back to work a week after I had her because my husband was laid off from his job. I was finally able to be home full time when she was 2.5yrs old.
